Phytochemical and Antimicrobial Analysis of Root Extract of Aspargus Adscendens

The aim of this study was to characterize the phytochemicals and investigate antimicrobial efficacy shade dried roots Asparagus adscendens. powder were extracted with chloroform after removal solvent under reduced pressure subjected for chromatographic separation. After column chromatography purification five compounds i.e .hexacosanyltriacontanoate, hexatriacontanone, 2,3,5,7-tetramethoxydi hydrophenanthrene, -sitosterol stigmasterol characterized help physical spectral analysis(IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR mass). crude extract tested against selected bacteria fungi using disc diffusion method. root exhibited significant antibacterial activity maximum E. coli (activity index 0.82 at 1000 µg/disc 0.73 500 µg/disc).
